Dear Colleague,
We are pleased to announce our plans and to invite you to join us for our
Creativity and Madness Psychological Studies of Art and Artists Conference,
September 5-21, 2003 in Australia and New Zealand.
Our conference will bring Medicine and Art together in a unique way that will
enhance your understanding of the life issues with which the artists struggle,
and your appreciation and enjoyment of their achievements. There will be lecture-presentations
by physicians and psychologists who have studied the creative process and
intrapsychic forces that drive the artist to create. We will see the artists'
works in the museums and
in some cases, where the inspiration and creation took place. Conference Objectives
• to understand life issues and emotional phenomena such as depression,
mid life crisis,
early psychic trauma and creativity, as revealed in the lives and works of
many great
artists.
• to apply that knowledge to the understanding and treatment of patients
encountered in
clinical practice.
• This will be accomplished through lecture-presentations, small group
discussions, and
dialogue with Australian counterparts.
Experience the friendly and welcoming spirit of the people "down-under."
There will be time for sight seeing, shopping, and relaxing. We also will
arrange, as options for dinners at some of the finest restaurants, and if
possible, for Opera, Concerts and Ballet. We are doing our best to make this
the most enjoyable and intellectually stimulating two week conference and
